I hope you have been enjoying Autumn as much as I did. I just can't get enough of this season: it's chilly enough to get cosy, but not freezing (yet) so you don't feel like you want to hibernate. It's just perfect.
Cosiness, which unfortunately doesn't translate into French, is my favourite English word and concept. Well-being and feeling satisfied with your life is something that I think we should all cultivate. And what better way to do so than by adopting a cosy morning routine!
These are very simple ideas that I usually do every morning. They make me feel calm and happy, and I hope they will do the same to you!
- my morning coffee is what basically gets me out of bed. I absolutely love the smell, taste and feeling that this drink gives me. I always use an italian cafetière to make coffee. It takes a little time, but it is so worth it. Once the coffee is brewed, I add a little warm oat milk to it, for the most soul warming café au lait.
- breakfast is definitely my favourite meal of the day. I'm such a sweet tooth! I discovered porridge when I first to England in 2009 and since then I can't get enough of it. I find it both comforting and healthy, and the best way to start the day. I love adding superfood (pollen, maca, wheatgerm, raw cacao, etc.), special flours (I love carob and coconut) and either fresh fruits or compote on top.
- whilst I eat my breakfast, I usually read a book, browse on my pad or write in my journal. The Little Book of Hygge is a great source of inspiration for all the cosy nerd like I am! Hygge is a Danish word that means cosiness, happiness, spending time with loved ones, and all these other lovely things that make you feel happy to be alive. If you like the concept, I would definitely recommend the book.
- I love listening to old records. I am starting to have a little collection now, but this particular one (The Nutcracker, by Tchaikowsky) always makes me feel cosy. I listen to it all the time from the beginning of Autumn until the end of Spring: I have it on my phone, on my laptop and on record. That's like my life playlist. I saw the ballet a few years ago, performed by the Royal Ballet in London and it was the most magical experience.
I hope these ideas will be a little helpful to those of you who find it hard to get up in the morning. I usually also have a little yoga routine that I do every morning, which helps my body feel relaxed <3
Have a lovely (and cosy) day!
